The Problem: Menu Changes Without Consistent Communication
As a chef-driven concept, BelAir Cantina frequently rolls out new menu items and limited-time offerings—but without a streamlined training system, FOH and BOH teams were sometimes out of sync. Servers didn’t always have the context to describe new dishes with confidence, and BOH teams couldn’t be sure the nuances of new prep procedures were fully understood. To deliver a seamless guest experience, BelAir needed a way to consistently align the entire team—without sacrificing speed or engagement.

What the Training Looks Like
BelAir Cantina uses Opus to deliver seasonal new menu training that combines video narration, mobile-friendly learning, and in-person validation. The module includes:
- Video intro from Jack Woznick — BelAir’s Training Director, building instant connection
- Food + beverage coverage — spanning new items, LTOs, and special events
- Manager Check-in — for real-time support before the final exam
Seasonal Refreshes with Real Context
This module walks teams through new food and beverage items, while also updating them on weekly programming—like live music, community events, or promo tie-ins. That way, staff know not only what’s new, but how to talk about it with guests.
Human Connection at Scale
Training begins with a video message from Jack Woznick, Director of Training—a personable, approachable intro that mirrors live classroom-style learning. This helps boost engagement, increase accountability, and make digital training feel more human.
Built-In Support Before Testing
Before the final knowledge check, team members complete a Check-in with a manager to review questions and verify readiness. This gives learners a chance to clarify details and gives managers confidence that teams are menu-ready before service.
The Results: Confident Teams, Better Guest Communication
By turning new menu rollouts into structured, human-centered learning moments, BelAir Cantina has improved team alignment and guest-facing confidence. From servers to chefs, everyone shares the same understanding of what’s new and why it matters.
Key Benefits:
- Ensures full team alignment on new food & beverage items
- Combines video, visuals, and live validation for deeper engagement
- Reduces confusion and miscommunication during service
- Increases FOH confidence in describing dishes and drinks
- Strengthens training culture with a human, supportive touch
“You can’t just drop a new menu and expect teams to figure it out—this training helps us roll things out smoothly and keeps service consistent across locations.”
— Jack Woznick, Director of Training, BelAir Cantina
