Ziggi's Coffee, one of the fastest-growing drive-thru coffee shop concepts in the U.S., has partnered with Opus Training to power training and operations across its 120+ locations. With a 90% franchised network and new stores opening every month, Ziggi's saw an opportunity to connect training and store performance more directly — and build the systems that match how fast the brand is moving.
To build toward 200 locations, Ziggi's set out to bring training and daily operations into one platform so franchisees could see the full picture: what teams are learning, how they're executing, and where stores need support.
"As we continue to scale, we're intentional about building systems that support our franchisees and ensure consistency across every location. With the pace of our growth, we needed a partner that understands franchise operations at scale and can help us connect training, execution, and performance in a meaningful way."
— Brandon Knudsen, CEO, Ziggi's Coffee
The system Ziggi’s outgrew: growing challenges in training, visibility, and accountability
Ziggi's previous learning management system (LMS) created inefficiencies as the brand scaled. Training wasn't role-specific, so team members navigated a broad library of content to find what was relevant to their role. Over time, engagement with the platform declined, and team members turned to the L&D support center for answers they couldn't quickly find on the platform.
Field leadership also lacked the data to support teams consistently — particularly around daily checklists and operational tasks, which led to uneven usage across franchise locations.
“Our previous system was very 'one size fits all.' Our teams were getting inundated with information — A portion of the content wasn't always relevant to each role, which made it harder for teams to stay engaged.” — Danny LeBeck, Director of Franchise Training
Why Opus: one platform for training, answers, and accountability
For a brand built on consistency and an exceptional store-level experience, aligning training with execution is critical to delivering on the Ziggi's customer promise. That meant bringing brand standards into one central hub: a single source of truth for franchisees when onboarding new hires, launching new products, and running daily store operations.
With Opus, Ziggi’s training is personalized by role, so team members only see what applies to them. When questions come up during a shift, Ask Opus lets store teams search 1,100+ operational documents and get answers on the spot, freeing up Ziggi's L&D team from as much as 25 hours of support calls per week. And with visibility into both training completion and task lists, franchisees get the data they need to coach their teams and run more consistent stores — helping every location deliver on the Ziggi's brand promise.
Opus also helps Ziggi's L&D team move faster. Product launch training that previously took up to a week of cross-team effort can be deployed in a day. For a 90% franchised network launching new products on a regular cadence, faster training means faster execution across every store.
Looking ahead: building the foundation for 200 locations
Ziggi's is moving quickly, starting with a full rebuild of barista training as the first initiative on Opus. From there, the focus is on bringing training, task management, and brand standards into one system that grows with the franchise network. Every franchisee, new and existing, will have one platform where teams learn by role, execute on daily tasks, and stay aligned with corporate standards — setting every franchise up for success on the path toward 200 stores.
"Ziggi's has built something rare: a franchise network where leadership is as invested in what happens at the store level as the franchisees running them. That commitment shows up in how they approach training, and we're proud to be their partner in building it.”
— Rachael Nemeth, CEO and Co-founder of Opus
